This spring has seen a lot of miles added to our frequent flier accounts.

After a brief visit to our German office (we were there when the war started), we headed for Baltimore and the TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) convention, where a/t media was one of the presenters.

Over 100 folks were nice enough to show up early on a Friday morning to see a demonstration on how to make their own digital media for use in class. The session was called "Digital Video: Technological Options and Pedagogical Payload" and demonstrated how teachers can use DVDs, e-books, digital video cameras, laptop editing and compression to make video-based teaching materials in the classroom, and how they can involve their students in the process. A précis of the presentation will be available through the Video and Digital Media Interests Section newsletter (Andrei is the co-editor this year).

The next stop was Las Vegas and the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention. We were invited back to the international trade exhibit, where we showed off some of our interactive products and talked about cross-cultural interfaces and laptop-based video production.

We went back to Washington, D.C. and the NECTFL (North-East Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) to see the premiere of the interactive CD we did for "Débuts," McGraw-Hill’s new film-based French course. Two of our Spanish language CDs also made their official debuts at the conference.

We also made our first foray to the IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) conference in Brighton, England, to expand our knowledge of the international markets for the Queen’s English and to visit with clients.

And, last but not least, seven projects, spanning disciplines from math to music, went gold this spring, and more are in the works
